Doing it for the kids: JWT Canada helps the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation raise $11.8 million dollars

Fundraising is an important task that requires momentum, vision and teamwork for successful results. Tim Hortons, the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation (THCF) and JWT Canada have partnered together once again to promote Camp Day, the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. JWT Canada created print, digital and broadcast mediums for the Foundation, which focuses on creating a nurturing camp experience for underprivileged children.

Fundraising frequently takes place across Tim Hortons restaurants and communities, but each year there is a particularly big push to support Tim Hortons Camp Day. Established almost 40 years ago in 1974, Camp Day provides support, skills and encouragement to children who may not find the opportunity elsewhere.

To kick off the THCF fundraising campaign, Tim Hortons set aside a special day where all of their restaurants donated 100% of the proceeds from coffee sales to the cause. The funds were then used to create a nurturing camp experience for over 16,000 economically disadvantaged kids.

The JWT Canada office also collected donations from employees by selling Tim Hortons coffee and holding a pre-Camp Day fundraiser lunch for the office.

Susan Kim-Kirkland, President and CEO of JWT Canada, is honored to have such a long-standing working relationship with Tim Hortons and the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation. She notes that JWT Canada’s contributions to the success of Tim Hortons Camp Day truly impact the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, ultimately helping improve the lives of thousands of deserving children each year.

Susan commented on Camp Day’s mission, reminding us that children are our future, and it’s in everybody’s best interest to provide them with opportunities to succeed.

Dave Newnham, Vice President and Executive Director of the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, added, “We’ve seen time and time again that once a child attends our camp, they return home with a more positive attitude and greater confidence about our future.”
